“Based on an original idea proposed by Yoshitomo Nara, artists of various ages and backgrounds come together to each present within the gallery the unfaltering sense of youth that they continue to embrace within their life and practice. Viewers are invited to witness the artists’ reflections of their youth, dreams, and love, as well as the powerful and driving force for expressing their own existence, and the chaos and order that is created through the liberated and eclectic imagination of those who do not find themselves incorporated into the social system.
In addition, a zine will be published as a concept book accompanying the exhibition, consisting of an anthology of thoughts, reflections, and expressions of “youth” by a selection of 15 diverse individuals including novelists, artists, curators, a high school student, gallerists, and office staff.” – YKG Gallery

THIS EXHIBITION WAS CURATED BY BETH HUMPREY
Beth Humphrey is an artist and education curator at the WAAM. She lives in the Catskill Mountains with her husband, poet Guy Reed and their two daughters.
ART FOR EDUCATION at WAAM builds community, learning and art-making experiences through collaboration and outreach with schools, artists, educators and families. Over 700 students participate in these school programs, museum visits and family days annually and contribute artwork to the youth exhibitions program in the YOUTH EXHIBITION SPACE. WAAM partners with libraries, historical societies, regional school districts and community organizations to engage students, families and the community in the arts.
